Bring on the Garden Lights and Stay Out All Night
If you ‘re looking for an excuse to go crazy on garden lights, throw a party. Maybe you think it’s a bit too much work , but if it means that you finally have a perfect excuse to buy path lights, candle lanterns and patio lights – then get ready to shop with gusto . Just picture how great it will be to see your night time garden in a whole new light
You see, garden lighting is more than just a few cheesy bulbs on a drawstring . Its a way to create a mood for an occasion and transition from various areas of the property . Is your yard built around the concept of garden rooms? It’s a wonderful way to present small areas to seem bigger than they are and you can use the same concept with the lighting , at night and create different spaces with a different approach to lighting.
First of all you can use lighting to direct people . In the case of a party or guests coming over , start with how you illuminate the path. There are so many wonderful choices. I love solar path lights. Honestly, they’ve come such a long way from early, boring lights that I don’t know why a person would ever want anything else . But now you can also select between all-purpose white light – or spot lights or solar lights that change color. I’ll use white nearer to the front of the garden and stash my new colored lights out back.
The color changing path lights, I must admit, really are a favorite of mine . Not only will these solar powered garden lights shift their color from red to orange to yellow to green to blue and purple, then back to red, they can stay at the color of your choice so the possibilities are not quite endless , but pretty darned close.
Some thing else I found are solar powered, color shifting balls that I can sit on a little stand or just roll around the yard or (get this ) – they’ll float around in the pool. This is very, very cool.
Best of all, I now have an excuse to buy outdoor candle lanterns. I know they’ve been around for a while, but there are so many choices . Since I’m free to set up them around every table and hang a few from the odd branch, I can choose between iron and clear glass, iron and mosaic glass and some simply wonderful pressed and crackle glass lanterns in fuchsia, amber, dark green and turquoise.
My garden is an important part of my home. It matters to me and I’m happy to have any chance to show it off in a new way .
