Homes of the Future–Modular Homes
Because of the worsening home affordability issue, most families who would like to get a home of their own are now faced with tremendous price hikes. But because of man’s sheer genius, the dream of getting a home, despite of the current housing crisis, is not yet over.
Nowadays, modular homes, also known as “off-site construction” are now getting praises and favorable reviews. Although not yet completely accepted, as it is still mistakenly associated with mobile homes which are of lesser quality, modular homes are more affordable than site-constructed houses or stick-built houses. Also, studies prove that these modular homes are more durable than site-constructed houses because builders would usually replace nails with screws. Also, glues are used to seal the surfaces for the modules to be able to weather the entire duration of the transportation. Furthermore, in some areas where typhoons and twisters are commonly experienced, the study conducted by analysts reveal that modular homes fared best compared to other constructions.
What’s even more amazing is the fact that modular homes, unlike site-constructed homes, can be finished inside the remote facility in just a matter of weeks and can be delivered at the site and can be fully installed in as little as twelve weeks. And because these homes are modular, which parts are built in an off-site facility, they are priced much lower than site-constructed homes.
The cost-effectiveness of these modular homes are brought about by factors, such as: a. expeditious manufacturing which creates faster return on investment; b. indoor construction makes it free from weather delays; c. large-scale builders can negotiate better prices with suppliers, thus the materials used become more affordable, ultimately benefiting the homeowner; d. lower waste of materials as the builders, through calculation, estimation and construction, have already pre-evaluated the actual number of materials to be used for a specific project.
If these advantages are not enough to convince you, perhaps the idea that modular home builders can actually build houses according to different house plans, home design and other specifications directed by the buyer, would now persuade you.
If you are now smiling and quite persuaded with the advantages of buying pre-fabricated houses you now have to get an architect to draw the design and house plan according to your taste, description and specifications. If that is completed, have a few home builders quote on your house plan. In that way, you would be able to get the least price for the construction of your future home.
Because of the availability of these cost-efficient modular homes, the housing crisis brought about by the choice of policies adopted by Kevin Rudd will not anymore hinder you and your family’s dream of getting a home of your very own.
